Computer software is continually growing in complexity and size with each software product having a target audience. For example, video game software has a completely different audience from banking software. Therefore, when an organization develops or otherwise invests in a software product, it must assess whether the software product will be acceptable to its end users, its target audience, its purchasers, and other stakeholders. The people responsible for ensuring the software is ‘fit for purpose' must have an in depth appreciation of the environment and user base in which it will be deployed.
